Trump just colluded with Russia. Openly.

Trump just sold the US down the river.

But that's OK because he says he will make America great again.

:?
Trump just colluded with Russia. Openly.

The enduring image of the U.S.-Russia summit in Helsinki on Monday will be that of President Trump standing next to Vladimir Putin and suggesting he found Mr. Putin’s “powerful” denial at least as persuasive as the U.S. intelligence community’s unanimous finding that Russia intervened in the 2016 election.

Coupled with another groundless attack on the FBI and an apparent endorsement of a patently disingenuous offer by Mr. Putin to collaborate with the investigation of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, Mr. Trump appeared to align himself with the Kremlin against American law enforcement before the Russian ruler and a global audience.

Mr. Trump had said he would raise the issue of Russia’s interference in the election with Mr. Putin, but the result was a series of statements that could have been scripted by Moscow. Mr. Trump said that, while Daniel Coats, the United States’ director of national intelligence, had told him Russia was responsible for hacking into the server of the Democratic National Committee, “I don’t see any reason why it would be.” (..)

When offered an open-ended opportunity to cite any behavior by Russia that had contributed to poor relations, the president sidestepped, saying “I hold both countries responsible.” As Mr. Trump apparently sees it, Russia’s invasions of Ukraine and Georgia, war crimes in Syria, poison attack in Britain and the shooting down of a Malaysian civilian airliner over Ukraine are morally equivalent to the policies pursued by previous U.S. administrations.

It’s not yet known what Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin discussed in their private meeting, or whether they reached any tangible agreements. (..) Mr. Putin scored a symbolic triumph by appearing to stand as an equal with the U.S. president in a relationship with “special responsibility for maintaining international security,” as he put it.

While Mr. Trump’s insistence on granting Mr. Putin that status was misguided, it paled beside his betrayal of the FBI and his own senior intelligence officials. (..)

In Helsinki, Mr. Trump again insisted “there was no collusion” with Russia. Yet in refusing to acknowledge the plain facts about Russia’s behavior, while trashing his own country’s justice system, Mr. Trump in fact was openly colluding with the criminal leader of a hostile power.

In other news on Benedict Arnold Trump,

a diplomatic triumph for Putin, Trump's puppet master.
Trump, at Putin’s Side, Questions U.S. Intelligence on 2016 Election

Says Russian Leader Was ‘Powerful in His Denial’ of Meddling

President Trump stood next to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and publicly challenged the conclusion of his own intelligence agencies that Moscow interfered in the 2016 presidential election.

Wrapping up what he called a “deeply productive” summit meeting, Mr. Trump offered his Russian counterpoint an extraordinary show of support.
From Trump, Words No President Has Uttered Overseas

Trump Sheds All Notions of How a President Should Conduct Himself Abroad

Rather than defend America against those who would threaten it, Trump attacked his own citizens and institutions while hailing the leader of a hostile power.

President Trump made one thing clear after his meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin on Monday: He is willing to take Mr. Putin’s word over those of his own intelligence agencies about whether the Russians tried to fix the 2016 election.

Such an admission by a president sworn to be the principal defender of the Constitution and America’s sovereignty in the world is extraordinary enough. But it was only one of several statements made by Mr. Trump, the likes of which no other American president has ever uttered on foreign soil.

He condemned the Justice Department’s investigation of his campaign’s ties to Russia as a “disaster for our country.” He suggested that the F.B.I. deliberately mishandled its investigation of Russia’s hacking of the Democratic National Committee.

Meanwhile, at Breitbart, the Trump Kool Aid keeps flowing:

Trump dissing the FBI over Putin's claims he never, ever interfered = OK

Because FBI deep state, Clinton, DNC server, conspiracies

Mueller and his team of phony biased investigators dare not take Putin up on his offer, could you imagine the collusion he would find with the Clinton Crime syndicate! The Kremlin is graced with portraits of the Clintons.
Btw Mueller where are the DNC servers, afraid to look, you might find the real collusion.

Well, at least we have transparency with Mueller's witch hunting team....every single thing they do is designed to bring President Trump down....but they are too incompetent, and cowardly, to do it.

And it doesn't hurt that the President is totally innocent, and ten times as smart as the whole pack of girly men.

Jean, who would you trust?

The fbi who has been proven to be his enemy?

Or putin, who simply exposed the rampant curruption of the democrat party?

Russia did this country a great favor by proving what we all suspected - that democrats are corrupt.

Why haven't you spent the last two years bashing the dnc? Are you mexican?
Mexicans turn a blind eye to leftist corruption. Mexicans loooove corruption. Thats why dems want them as voters. You may not be as negro as you claim.

The bosses of the DOJ and FBI are Trump appointees who can prosecute the DNC or Hillary.
They can/could/should for all I care. Good luck to them. Let Hillary fry if she deserves it.

But it is a different, distinct issue from the question of Russia's 2016 meddling.

The Directors of the NSA, CIA and FBI are all Trump appointees.
Those institutions all stand by their analysis Russia meddled in the US 2016 election.

So, what can be the claim? All of the rank and file of 3 agencies are antiTrump Dems?
And none of the Trump-appointed Directors of these agencies can do jack shit about it?

Nigga, please.

Is it treason or collusion if he is realigning America away from democracies towards autocracies instead, with the wholehearted support of his countrymen. It could be that Trump saw that the American century was coming to an end. A century that was powered by American industrial might. But as emerging economies catch up and overtake, that will inevitably end. All that he has done is to speed up the process.

Treat the EU, NATO, even Canada and all democratic institutions as the enemy and America becomes a military hyperpower rather than an economic superpower. Trump took America off the world stage but is putting it back on in a different form.

And it does have to be handed to Trump, he has shaken up the world order and not to the rest of the world's detriment, though at first glance it might appear to be so.

America runs trade deficits because it is the worlds reserve currency. That means that it has a far higher value than would otherwise be the case. That makes your exports more expensive and imports cheaper. Remove reserve status by perhaps defaulting on your debt and the deficits will disappear overnight. Your cost of living will go up though.

And I'm not crying at all. I think that Trump running America is the best possible thing for the rest of the world. Especially in the long run. What happens to America though? I don't care. You voted for him, you live with the results good or bad. He's yours, you own him.

No, I think everyone understands Trump's appeal to his base.

They are mostly white Christians fed up being forced to make gay wedding cakes.
And fed up over excessive affirmative action and transgender bathrooms. And it's cool.
And no, I'm not even begrudging him his tall tales, insecurity and vulgarity.

But there are very serious blunders he made that are damaging the US and its future:

• tax cuts financed by deepening the structural deficit isn't going to end well
• protectionism never works, and will eventually prick the Wall Street bubble
• believing NK's Kim fake promises while dissing LT NATO allies isn't smart

And then there's the troubling pro-Russian tropism

Electorally, Putin needed to make the West his enemy. Yet Trump cajoles him.
US agencies say Russia meddled in the election, and Trump will not punish it.
The Trump campaign had a multiple contacts with Russia. Why?

Was Trump bankrolled by Russia? Does he hope future Russian deals? Pee tape?
I've no idea why Trump does Russia's bidding, but all I can see is that he does.

So the cost of your conservative SCOTUS appears to be very high,
and the Trump groupies refuse to face that part of the equation

Mr. Trump’s visit to confer with Russian President Putin in Helsinki seems to have provoked a kind of last-gasp effort to keep the increasingly idiotic Russian election meddling story alive - with Robert Mueller’s ballyhooed indictment of twelve “Russian intel agents” alleged to have “hacked” emails and computer files of the DNC and Hillary’s campaign chairman John Podesta. The gaping holes in that part of the tale have long been unearthed so I’ll summarize as briefly as possible:

1) the bandwidth required to transfer the files has been proven to be greater than an internet hack might have conceivably managed in the time allowed and points rather to a direct download into a flash drive device.

2) the DNC computer hard drives, said to be the source of the alleged hacking, disappeared while in the custody of the US Intel Community (including the FBI).

3) the authenticity of the purloined emails by Mr. Podesta and others has never been disputed, and they revealed a lot of potentially criminal behavior by them.

4) Mr. Mueller must know he will never get twelve Russian intel agents into a US courtroom, so the entire exercise is a joke and a fraud. In effect, he’s indicted twelve ham sandwiches with Russian dressing.

Except that, with all due respect for that great media, Zerohedge, the "increasingly idiotic Russian election meddling story" is the official assessment of the US intelligence community.

So, in the name of defending what the nationalist right likes (SCOTUS + protectionism),
they're ready to disown their own inteeligence community led by Trump appointees.

In the name of societal gains, the paleo-conservatives are shedding their patriotism.

Speaking of drinking the Kool aid, I had an exchange with a Trump nazi who said Putin has more credibility with the American people than anybody in the fbi, cia, deep state, Congress, etc.

I told him that we must be ripe for civil war then and that he should practice wrapping his lips around a gun barrel or surveying areas in his home where he can swing and support his body weight.

He said I am either on too many or too few SSRIs.

I was trying to help him out.

This sad, embarrassing wreck of a man

Trump says he accepts U.S. intelligence and misspoke in Helsinki
By George F. Will - July 17

America’s child president had a play date with a KGB alumnus, who surely enjoyed providing day care. It was a useful, because illuminating, event: Now we shall see how many Republicans retain a capacity for embarrassment.

Jeane Kirkpatrick, a Democrat closely associated with such Democratic national security stalwarts as former senator Henry Jackson and former senator and former vice president Hubert Humphrey, was President Ronald Reagan’s ambassador to the United Nations. In her speech at the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, she explained her disaffection from her party: “They always blame America first.” In Helsinki, the president who bandies the phrase “America First” put himself first, as always, and America last, behind President Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Because the Democrats had just held their convention in San Francisco, Kirkpatrick branded the “blame America first” cohort as “San Francisco Democrats.” Thirty-four years on, how numerous are the “Helsinki Republicans”?

What, precisely, did President Trump say about the diametrically opposed statements by U.S. intelligence agencies (and the Senate Intelligence Committee) and by Putin concerning Russia and the 2016 U.S. elections? Precision is not part of Trump’s repertoire: He speaks English as though it is a second language that he learned from someone who learned English last week. So, it is usually difficult to sift meanings from Trump’s word salads. But in Helsinki he was, for him, crystal clear about feeling no allegiance to the intelligence institutions that work at his direction and under leaders he chose.

Speaking of Republicans incapable of blushing — those with the peculiar strength that comes from being incapable of embarrassment — consider Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), who for years enjoyed derivative gravitas from his association with Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). Graham tweeted about Helsinki: “Missed opportunity by President Trump to firmly hold Russia accountable for 2016 meddling and deliver a strong warning regarding future elections.” A “missed opportunity” by a man who had not acknowledged the meddling?

Contrast Graham’s mush with this on Monday from McCain, still vinegary: “Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.” Or this from Arizona’s other senator, Jeff Flake (R): “I never thought I would see the day when our American president would stand on the stage with the Russian President and place blame on the United States for Russian aggression.” Blame America only.

President Trump's news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a disastrous capitulation, says Democracy Post editor Christian Caryl. (Gillian Brockell/The Washington Post)
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats and others might believe that they must stay in their positions lest there be no adult supervision of the Oval playpen. This is a serious worry, but so is this: Can those people do their jobs for someone who has neither respect nor loyalty for them?

Like the purloined letter in Edgar Allan Poe’s short story with that title, collusion with Russia is hiding in plain sight. We shall learn from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation whether in 2016 there was collusion with Russia by members of the Trump campaign. The world, however, saw in Helsinki something more grave — ongoing collusion between Trump, now in power, and Russia. The collusion is in what Trump says (refusing to back the United States’ intelligence agencies) and in what evidently went unsaid (such as: You ought to stop disrupting Ukraine, downing civilian airliners, attempting to assassinate people abroad using poisons, and so on, and on).

Americans elected a president who — this is a safe surmise — knew that he had more to fear from making his tax returns public than from keeping them secret. The most innocent inference is that for decades he has depended on an American weakness, susceptibility to the tacky charisma of wealth, which would evaporate when his tax returns revealed that he has always lied about his wealth, too. A more ominous explanation might be that his redundantly demonstrated incompetence as a businessman tumbled him into unsavory financial dependencies on Russians. A still more sinister explanation might be that the Russians have something else, something worse, to keep him compliant.

The explanation is in doubt; what needs to be explained — his compliance — is not. Granted, Trump has a weak man’s banal fascination with strong men whose disdain for him is evidently unimaginable to him. And, yes, he only perfunctorily pretends to have priorities beyond personal aggrandizement. But just as astronomers inferred, from anomalies in the orbits of the planet Uranus, the existence of Neptune before actually seeing it, Mueller might infer, and then find, still-hidden sources of the behavior of this sad, embarrassing wreck of a man.

But he acts as if he deserved to: calling the EU a foe and Putin a friend? Really?

Desist from that bogus claim, Fryer. I already explained to you once or twice:

• I had PMd tozer to settle the game bets, but he closed the site without ever answering.
• I even asked Alan here to give me access to karma counts to settle the game bets.
But he never answered that request when he visits, which is about twice a year.

I can draw a voucher for 7500 karmas for you, if it makes you feel better.

It will have the same street value than electronic website karmas.

Never read any history have you? The world order that you so decry was set up by America to pursue American interests and it has worked splendidly both for America and most of the world. The American worker has been shortchanged by those who own and run America. In 40 years your GDP has doubled whilst the serfs' share of this wealth has barely moved, meanwhile the rich keep the lions share of this newly created wealth.

I can see why people voted on Trump. It must be exasperating to work harder and harder year on year but see your income remain stagnant. With Trump, there was an outside chance of change for the better but with Clinton, a corporate state insider, there was fuck all chance of change for the better. If I was an American worker then I too would have voted Trump. An outside chance is better than no chance at all, which is what you would have got with Clinton.
